Adrian Wood artist blacksmith is a university graduate with a degree in fine art sculpture from The University of London. A chance visit to a blacksmith's forge gave Adrian Wood his first taste of blacksmithing. He recalls; ”From the first moment I hit the hot steel I knew what I wanted to do.”
The Forge workshop is situated in the rural outskirts of Yarm, between Darlington and Northallerton so is easily accessible from the A1 or A19.
Adrian is a mentor on the BBC 1 show Make It At Market.
"Along with two friends we attended Ade’s fantastic Blacksmith Course near Yarm. A warm welcome with coffee followed a comprehensive H&S talk and then we were away with our first project. Ade & Andy provided help and humour all day showing how to get the best results from our time at the furnace. Debbie’s lovely food was served with a smile & the lunchtime added to the feeling of camaraderie amongst the group. At the end of the day we had two nice projects to show off at home and a lot of laughs along the way. Highly Recommended for anyone to attend. "
"One of the most enjoyable courses I’ve done. Adrian is a hugely talented blacksmith that is happy to share his skills with a group of complete beginners. We all managed to make a key ring and then a “Dragon head” set of hooks for coats etc. It was so rewarding and everyone managed to make “beautiful” items and have some fun along the way.
Thanks to Debbie who provided lovely food and refreshments throughout the day and great comms pre and post course…. Cake really helped :)
I’d wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone !!"
