Description

Fixed dates don’t suit? Looking for a private workshop? For this one my home studio will accommodate 6 max. If your group is larger I can travel to you but please message me as such workshops are priced differently. You will be guided through how to lay out the fibres to make a flat piece of felt as well as using carders to blend colours. Then using the reference material you have brought with you, learn how to create a simple figurative or abstract image on the top. Lastly you'll learn how to transform all the loose fibres into a piece of cloth. Taking place at Heather's home in Camberwell. You will be fuelled by plenty of teas and/or coffee and biscuits. With a maximum of four participants, these three hour workshops are designed to provide everybody with plenty of time for one on one attention. Heather always aims for sessions to be flexible to individual participants needs. If you can't quite decide what type of image to create Heather's home is full of art and design books and if need be she can print you an image to adapt. The workshop is on the ground floor of the house with almost flat access and a downstairs toilet. ALLERGIES to cats or indeed wool? Please note Heather has 3 cats (they’ll be elsewhere in the house during the workshops). Antihistamines are available but the workshops may not be for you.

What's included in the price?

Everything - all materials, equipment and instruction sheet. Not forgetting tea, coffee etc and biscuits. NB: Extra materials can be purchased at cost. If possible please arrive up to 10 minutes early to settle in with refreshments for a prompt workshop start. Please note these workshops require a minimum of 2 participants to run.

Heather Fiona Martin is a graduate of Goldsmiths College, University of London. She is an experienced felt maker who for over a decade has worked in educational and community settings. In addition to her community work she runs Purr & Wag It, fine art felted portraits. Heather holds an enhanced DBS certificate for children and vulnerable adults.

Heather explained the process to us and gave us lots of ideas as to what would work. She had a lovely range of merino wool colours all of wonderful quality. A lovely way to spend the afternoon and a delicious cake and cups of tea thrown in!"
